SYNOPSIS

Southeastern Sicily with its superb Baroque ‘triangle’: RagusaScicli and Modica, UNESCO World Heritage sites. From the Fornace Penna on the sea, which locals call “a mànnara” – film location for the Inspector Montalbano series created by Andrea Camilleri – to Scicli, a little gem of Baroque architecture, with its hand-carved balconies. And from Modica to the enchanting historic centre of Ragusa Ibla. It’s the story of a region as seen through its architecture and its landscapes, its chocolate and its stone facades, and its inhabitants, who are to thank for the renaissance of the entire area. The documentary ends with a look at the village of Marzamemi.
