SYNOPSIS

Only one region in Italy has a plural name: le Marche. And this plural collects the variety of landscapes on the peninsula: the sea which in winter maintains its charme unchanged, the elegant and gentle hills of the central part, reaching the rough and carved ones along the Apennine slopes shared by the two regions of Umbria and Marche. Our journey starts in Gradara, a medieval and striking hamlet. A stop in Urbino, pearl of the Italian Renaissance, is a must. And more: Urbania, the ancient Casteldurante, with its ceramics renowned in the world; Piobbico and the ancient tradition of weaving wool carpets. Passing through Carpegna, where the ancient technique of rust printing is still practiced, we carry on towards Fano and Pesaro, the music composer, Rossini’s home town, whose famous overture close this tribute to the region.
