Palazzo Francisci Todi | AUSL 2 – UMBRIA

A window on the emotional and cognitive universe of young women suffering from anorexia or bulimia.
Will they be able to give a name to the emotions they feel and free themselves from the radical ideas dictated by their illnesses: feeling fat, losing weight, stay as thin as they can and survive?

SYNOPSIS

In 2003 the ‘Palazzo Francisci’ residence in Todi, Umbria, was the first public residential treatment centre for outpatients in Italy to be devoted to eating disorders. It featured an integrated therapy model that addressed the psychological and nutritional aspects of the disorders while including innovative therapies like philosophical counseling and mirror therapy.

In the nearly ten years of its activity, roughly two thousand young people have been treated at the facility, and the ‘Francisci model’ has inspired similar residential treatment centres in Italy that represent a concrete opportunity for treatment and healing for patients, and crucial support for their families.
