SYNOPSIS

An exploration of an exquisite yet little-known corner of Tuscany, the Casentino: with stops at Anghiari, lacemaking and weaving capital; Poppi, one of Italy’s loveliest villages; then Cortona and Arezzo, birthplace of the great poet Francesco Petrarca, a city of superb craftsmen, such as its renowned jewellers. Yet the area also offers marvelous natural attractions like the nature reserve Sasso Fratino inside the National Park of the Casentino Forests. Above all, it contains a living heritage of trades such as barrel-making, stonecutting and the cultivation of irises.
